Update: Madagascar's elected President Marc Ravalomanana stepped down and handed power to the military on March 17, 2009. The military then transferred power to opposition leader Andry Rajoelina who had led months of protests. In the midst of this, a dedicated staff continues operations at Parc Ivoloina as well as research and monitoring at the Betampona Reserve. An increase in food prices has created a financial burden.
